What's On Your Media/Press Web Page?
If you missed Aletta being interviewed by Doug Foresta of BlogTalkRadio, you can listen to Part 1 here. Part II coming next week! Aletta answers seven important questions frequently asked by artists including "How do I start when I'm ready to make this my full time career?" and "What are the biggest mistakes that artists make that keep them 'stuck' (spinning their wheels)?"

When YOU get press and media coverage like Aletta did, do you add it to your website? You should!
A Press/Media page is a great place for people to connect with you, read all about you from articles and interviews, and it's a great place for the press and media to research you for their articles and interviews.
Take a look a A.C.T.'s Press/Media page for an example. We call it "Press & Publicity" but you can call yours "News," "Press & Media," or whatever you want, as long as it's clear to the viewer what they will find there. Organize it by type of press or media, or by date, as long as you make it easy for the viewer to figure out what they're looking at.
What can you include on a Press/Media page?
- Your personal appearances at events (put upcoming events on your Events page also).
- Articles from newspapers and magazines that have been written about you, or where you are mentioned (as part of a show or event, for example).
- Guest blog posts/articles on other people's websites.
- Radio appearances.
- Television appearances.
- Press releases.
- Your press/media kit.
Each item can be linked to the website of the publication or radio/television where the viewer can read the article or listen/watch an interview. I would also suggest that you make backup copies of all interviews and recordings (if allowed by the publisher) since links on their website will likely not stay there forever.
Also, it's a good idea to have a link to your press or media kit (as a PDF file) that contains your bio, artist statement, images of you and your work, testimonials, copies of articles/reviews, and other information that a publication, radio station, or television station would want to have.
Got questions about this? You can have a complimentary 15-minute consultation (if you haven't already had one with me). Or, sign up for a 60-minute brainstorming session with me where we'll go into detail and find solutions tailored specifically for you. Just $75 and worth every penny.
P.S. Try this, it's a product I put together that will help you understand what marketing options there are, and how to get what you need without going broke. It's called "Affordable Marketing That Really Works for You" and it's only $29.95 for a recording and PDF workbook file. You can take a peek inside and read Part I (PDF file) by clicking here.
