Brent Haddock, Intaglio Prints
Semi-abstract, Brent Haddock's intaglio prints are characterized by graphic compositions, natural elements of design and subtle color harmonies. Hand printed, they are made using the
creative and expressive dynamics of a new, safer, non-toxic approach to printmaking that uses no harmful acids, solvents or chemicals.
"Because printmaking is a very technical medium and much of the viewing public doesn't understand how original prints are made, the biggest marketing challenge for me is educational. Many collectors as well as galleries are confused by the print and poster market; consequently, I spend a lot of time educating them about the differences. I find that this is not only enjoyable, but also prosperous at times," says Brent about his medium.
"I have found that it is very beneficial to frequent galleries that carry my work as often as possible (at least monthly). Gallery owners must know you and be excited about your newest project. Living in rural Utah, I have found it difficult to accomplish this, so a few years ago; I started an annual studio open house that is usually held
at Christmas. Postcard invitations are sent out to my mailing list. Friends and family become sales representatives, while I demonstrate at the press. Sales have been very brisk with many repeat customers," he said about promoting his prints.
