David C. Powers, Painter
David C. Powers is an academically trained artist who works with colored pencils and crayons on paper creating vividly colorful, larger-than-life-nudes, which are contemporary in mode. He has been an exhibiting artist and teacher of art since the late 1980's. Presently he lives part of the year in La Jolla, CA and Great Falls, MT.
"I consider the challenges of marketing my paintings and drawing to be focused on presentation at this time. Like many artist I always want to show my work in the best possible way. The difficulty was that because most of my paintings are large, usually 58 inches by 42 inches and my slides did not capture the full beauty of the images. Luckily a gallery director gave me the name of a photographer who could scan my painting and create 4x5 and 8x10 transparencies that were adjusted by hand to be true to the original. At the same time the images could be put on CDs. With the added benefit of files of my work on CDs, I can load cleaner images on to my web site, print copies at will from my printer and so on," said Powers about his visuals of his work.
