Gail Ingis Claus: Painter, Designer
The instant you encounter Gail Ingis Claus, she is telling you about her latest painting, the last conversation she had with a collector, and how she got on the front cover of a national magazine… in other words, she never stops talking about her art and letting people know how they can see it. “When I decided to make art my profession, I put together a business plan, portfolio, website, mailing lists. With persistence in getting the word out, I have found that all of my activities, whether or not they pertain directly to art, open up opportunities.”
Gail also makes sure to support other professionals. “A member of the organization, I called the new secretary-treasurer United States Professional Tennis Association to congratulate her. It led to a commission for the 75th anniversary, USPTA COLLECTION. Because there was no budget, they asked if I would donate the painting. I thought, exposure, exposure, exposure…. It put me in touch with people outside my normal circle, who may purchase from me in the future. I replied, without hesitation, “of course.” The painting and cover story were published in ADDvantage Magazine.”
Recently, she successfully sought permission to use designs for the World Cultural Center at ground zero to do a painting called Vision of New York. Gail plans to send architect Daniel Libeskind a print as a thank you, and now she already has the beginnings of a story to tell other collectors. Have a look at http://www.gailingisclaus.com.
