"Thank you for such an inspiring One-on-One session! Having you to help me work on my journey as a professional artist is a great comfort. This last year has been an excellent year of growth for me in many respects, but especially with regard to the many things I've learned through you and the A.C.T. program. Though I am only in mid-journey, I'm very  happy with the progress I've made. You're a one-of-a-kind teacher!"

“I've been a member since its beginnings in 1996, even before Aletta's time with Artist Career Training. I had read several books on marketing but never did much to follow throughwith the information. That's my own fault, but I suspect I am not very different from other people in that regard.

“My career isn't yet where I want itto be but that is not from any lack in Artist Career Training, but because personal life circumstances have slowed me down. I continue with membership in the A.C.T. community because it inspires me, helps keep me focused, and I'm still learning and refining what I know. I get a lot of inspirationand support from the classes with other artists and Aletta has a wealth of great ideas to aid us.

“My membership in A.C.T. is a commitment to and investment in my career and it's one I think is well worth it.I've never regretted theyears I've been with the program.”

Lee McVey,Albuquerque, NM

“I'm entering my sixth year as a member of A.C.T. and have loved every moment. I consider it one of the best career choices I've made.

“As a full time Certified Pubic Accountant, I knew a lot about business, but I didn't know anything about the business of art. I also knew that without a plan, I would waste a lot of time and money traveling down many different paths trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. Artist Career Training has given me the tools that I need. Of course, it's up to me to carry out what I've learned, but I can do so knowing that I'm making the right decisions.

“I also remember the early days. I was full of myself and wanted everything immediately. My wife, Myriam, will tell you that patience is NOT one of my virtues. Just last night she mentioned how amazed she is that I've stuck with photography which requires a LOT of patience. I vividly remember a Tele-class about patience and how it took five to seven years to establish yourself as a professional artist….and even longer, if ever, if you take the hit and miss, try everything path. I remember thinking, "Well, I'll show you and do it faster than that." They were right.

“Art is my other full time career so it's going to take me longer - another reason Artist Career Training is so important. Time is an extremely valuable commodity for me and I don't have any to waste. The lessons I've learned here have save me a lot of time as well as money. I will say, with no reservations, that I'm way ahead of other local full time artists who have been at this for 10, 15, 20+ years.

“Then there is the value of the A.C.T. community message board. I wasn't afraid to present myself as somebody who didn't know the answers and to ask for help or share ideas or just to share successes and failures. Being a professional artist can be a lonely career. It was wonderful to discover that there was a community of artists that shared the same passion, the same frustrations with the business of art, I did. It was also amazing to discover the varied experience that other members possessed. We are all at different stages in our lives and careers. We've all had successes and failures and through sharing on the message board, I learned, and continue to learn, a LOT. I continue to think that the community message board is one of the greatest “best kept secrets’ and asset of A.C.T. membership.

“It wasn't long after I joined, that I learned a way to grow my mailing list that has paid for my investment with Artist Career Training many times over. But, it's up to you to take advantage of this wealth of information. When I joined, I read EVERY past message on the board and then asked questions. In addition to my help as an A.C.T. mentor, you have the wisdom of my fellow mentor, Patrice Federspiel, seasoned A.C.T veterans such as Lee McVey and the other members of A.C.T.. And then there is Aletta who in five minutes can give you so many helpful hints and ideas that she will have your head spinning. And let's not forget Robin Sagara whose administrative, marketing and web skills are second to none. We are all here to help.

“I've always felt that we can do together as a group what we can't do as individuals and Artist Career Training continues to prove me right, which is one of the reasons I'm still here and have increased my level of involvement by becoming a mentor. Of course, by helping each other, we are all mentors. ”

Bruce K. Haley, Jr.,A.C.T. 301 member and Artist Career Training Mentor

"I do individual coaching with Aletta in addition to implementing the info I get from the program. It's a powerful combination, and I get individual attention and Aletta's wonderful ability to laser in on what will help me the most. I move forward in my business quickly, and always make back my investment within a couple of months. Thank you Aletta!!"

~Robin Sagara, Sagara Development

"Aletta is very organized and professional. I am so happy I had the chance to work with her. She has amazing insight and is has very valuable knowledge about the art world."

~ Scott Erb, Photographer

"Not only have you provided guidance through the basic steps in art marketing and answers to my individual questions, but the regularity of the Member Program has kept me focused on my career goals - to say nothing of actually verbalizing what those goals are! Artist Career Training has given me the confidence to take many more steps than I would have considered a year ago. Thanks for all you do, your organizational skills, the professional ease with which you monitor the bi-weekly calls. I value the contacts I have made in this group and if there is one thing that makes me a success, it will be the A.C.T. influence."

~ Graduated A.C.T. Member Patty Cunningham

"I joined A.C.T. and then a year later renewed as an "A.C.T. Graduate" as I have come to realize that despite all my activities in the art world, I still had a LOT to learn, and that this was a place where I could learn at a slightly faster pace. It is when you think you know it all that you are starting to go off on the wrong path. What I get out of A.C.T. more than anything else is a boost with my morale. Let's face it, when you get rejected several times a month it is murder on ones spirits. And I find it is surprisingly hard to talk with other artists in my town about career issues. A.C.T. TeleClasses especially seem to get me pumped up to go out there and try it again ("and again, and again")

~ A.C.T. Graduate Philip Koch

"I wanted to let everyone know that this program is still helping me. I find that many of the answers to the questions I am asking myself are being answered by A.C.T., and in the least evasive way. I am very much in a challenging situation with all my paperwork. But, this month I was able to define an organization strategy more effectively. And perhaps understand how important a schedule is. That's a tough one for me, I tend to fly by the seat of my pants and deal strictly by intuition (or gut hunches). I've always said its part of being creative, but perhaps it's just the part that keeps you on the bottom."
~ A.C.T. Graduate Liz Nichols

"Thank you A.C.T. members and of course to our leaders. It's because of your input that my art business has really pulled together and is rolling along at a smooth pace."
~ A.C.T. Graduate Gail Ingis Claus

"Diane, know that you will be a great addition to the group. Even though I haven't been able to be as active in the group as I'd like, I have received untold energy and help from Geoffrey right through the whole class. Guess we just have to keep on keeping on, huh?"
~ A.C.T. Graduate Donna Brower Watts

"I've missed a couple of classes do to our workshop season which has now finished up for the year. I'm sure you know I signed up to be an ACT Grad. I'm excited! I was undecided at first, but then in the last TeleClass I kept learning stuff I didn't know, so I figured I need to stick around for a while longer."
~ A.C.T. Graduate Peggy Taylor,
Contemporary Impressionist Painter

“Going back to my roots gives me perspective on how much I love my adopted country, and how much I value the friendships and relationships I have found here.  That includes those of you in this A.C.T. group, because for the first time I really feel that I belong, in the sense of being in the company of artists who understand me.  The mastermind group led by Aletta de Wal in particular is a wonderful place to be, and even though time gets away from me and I’m not always as prepared as I would like, that hour on the phone with all of you is very special.  It gives me inspiration, and reminds me that I’m not alone, and that I CAN pursue my artistic goals in spite of the crazy world around me!"

Carole Raschella

"I just wanted to touch bases with you to let you know how much I have appreciated you sharing your knowledge, insight and steps!  I feel very fortunate to have participated in your sessions over the last several months...and I will miss this exchange in the future.

Over the last several months, you have given me many valuable tips and steps on how to develop my business and I plan on initiating them as time allows. I always come away from my talks with you feeling that I have gained something that I can immediately put to use.  "

Edna Harris

Just want to thank you for Art Matters. Every week it's an artistic inspiration. Also thank you for ACT 4 years ago. I'm always practicing what I learned. I now have a new signature body of work and will be using the ACT lessons all over again to market it." A.C.T. Graduate JK

"I have had the privilege to work with Aletta this year on several projects relating to her coaching and consulting with artists. She is detail-oriented, patient and very motivating to her clients. I've seen this in action. I would highly recommend Aletta de Wal to anyone looking to launch or build their career as an artist." Carolyn Edlund

"I  want to thank you for the awesome service your company provides to artists.  As left brain thinkers, we can get pretty overwhelmed with the business end of art and not have a clue on how to promote especially. Pride and egotism can get in the way.  Lack of people skills, common courtesy in talking with potential clients, etc.  Lack of business and marketing skills, etc.

I'm a very late bloomer in art, not taking it seriously the whole time I raised my family.  Now that they are out of the nest, and due to closed doors in the other areas I pursued, I am now putting all my energies in something I'm actually good at.  I'm not sure where it will lead, but, it has to be better than anything else I have done. So I have decided to do it gung ho and ask God to direct all my steps.  I feel like Grandma Moses in this regard, starting so late. So I have a lot of catching up to do." NC
