L.A. Hecht, Painter - Monotypes

lah_picture2.jpg

L.A. Hecht creates paintings and monotypes of fruit and floral images by using multiple layers of color. "Nature's vistas lure me in until I grasp the magnificence of a seed maturing into a flower with one hundred petals, digest the enormity of a single bloom becoming an eight pound, gushing pink watermelon with contrasting black and white seeds. I must paint my awe." Hecht is represented in galleries on the East Coast and her work is in numerous private and public collections. For the past twelve years she has shared her experiences as Director of the Visual Art lecture Series at Cornell University Summer College.

"Besides image making, marketing is another part of being an artist that I love. The challenge of how many hours to spend in the office and how many hours making images is difficult. The bigger questions for me are; when does a self-employed person fulfill a days work? Each day I run out of time. I have more ideas than I do money and time.

"I took an SUV full of paintings and monotypes to a private viewing in another city. The woman's house was transformed into an L.A. Hecht art show for one night. I put together a nice mailer for her mailing list. The event brought a house full of viewers and a nice amount of clients. One person has already been a repeat client. We have plans for another show in the future. Up close and personal. It works," stated Hecht about one of her recent successes.
